The Art Of Storytelling

Here, I would like to start the blog through a great quote :

"The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller"

- Steve Jobs

Storytelling is the art that requires: Creativity, Vision, Skill, Strategy.

We are 22 times more likely to remember a fact when it has been wrapped in a story.

Why You Need To Best At Storyteller?

We all have attended boring physics classes in our 10th or 12th, where faculty delivers the content only.
But just imagine, if faculty explain that topic using a story or by doing practical.
Here is an example of this:
The story creates a neural coupling between speaker and listener.
Stories are not only used in classrooms but also used in businesses and many more.
In today's time, most advertisements have short stories. So, the customers can connect with the brand or product.
Here is the second example for you:

How To Build A Good Story?

"Success is systematic, not automatic.
A good system shortens the road to success."

Structure of systematic storytelling
  1. Background: It tells where & how the story is going
  2. Main Character: The hero of the story
  3. Goal: The aim of the story
  4. Challenge: The problems & villains in the story
  5. Conflict: The efforts put to solve the problems and overcome the challenges
  6. Result: The outcome of the story
  7. Call To Action: The action audience should take after the story ends.

FRAMEWORK

I Hope, You understand the art of storytelling. Now, let's talk about the framework.
We all have watched the animated movies of Pixar (Movies like Cars, Toy Story, etc.), famous for stories.
Pixar Short Story Example:

22 FRAMEWORK OF PIXAR

  1. Motivate audience: You should motivate your audience through storytelling. In a good story, the main character should keep trying till he/she wins at the end of the story.
  2. Understand problems and give solutions: Provide such solutions to the problems of the audience which makes a difference in their lives.
  3. Theme: You should have a good theme.
  4. Structure: Your story should have a structure that includes a beginning, middle, and end. The story should also depict the cause and effect.
  5. Make it simple: You should create a simple story to make customers understand easily what you want to convey.
  6. Add an element of conflict: Your story should have a conflict or villain to make it interesting and engaging.
  7. Add emotions: You should create the climax of the story in the beginning and always keep it emotional as the audience remembers the climax of the story, not the beginning.
  8. Add fictitious elements: No story is perfect. So, many times such elements are portrayed in the stories which are not logical but important to create emotions.
  9. Make notes of sporadic things: Whenever you get struck in-between storytelling, and then make notes of things that cannot happen further. This will help you to easily frame your story.
  10. Use interesting instances: You should add the instances which you like in your storytelling, this will highlight your personality. You should also know why do you like such stories.
  11. Pen down ideas: You should write down the ideas to reach your story to people.
  12. Create something different: You should brainstorm on your ideas till the time you are not convinced. This is because people do not want to listen to the story all the time. So, you should not afraid of creating something unique and different.
  13. Present personal opinions: You should use storytelling to share your point of view and not to impress the audience.
  14. Empower audience: Best stories make the audience feel empowered. So, your story should have emotions and power which you can feel and empower you.
  15. Put yourself in the shoes of your audience: You should understand the problems of the audience and what you want to encourage them. You should have honesty and credibility in your story, else you may lose the audience.
  16. Show both sides of the story: You should showcase both negative and negative sides in your story along with how to avoid worst-case scenarios.
  17. Great ideas always work: A good idea may not be fit for a story but it may be used in another story.
  18. Honesty: This is very important for storytelling. You should consistently test new ideas in search of a perfect idea.
  19. Never give shortcuts: You should never suggest shortcuts to your audience. Hardwork and skills are better than life-hacks which seem very interesting.
  20. Analyze competition: Analyse the stories of your competitors and prepare a list of what lacks in them and the changes you would like to implement in the story when you will present.
  21. Don't create false situations: You should never use false situations because it seems to trend. Your audience will connect with you when you will showcase an honest and real story.
  22. Create spine first and don't complicate the first draft: You should know what you want to offer through your story and who your customers are.

You can analyze your time by making excel in which you mention what you have done today and find out the effective time ratio.
